Egypt Tops 4th Egypt Open in Luxor, followed by Cote d'Ivoire , Italy and Tunisia In second, third and fourth place


The 4th Egypt Open , Luxor, Egypt 17-19 Feb. 2017 once more demonstrated the administrative and organizational capabilities of the Egyptian Taekwondo Federation. Apart from a sunny but rather cold weather, all participants admired outlay of the Tiba Hall , where the Championship took place. Watching the flags, light boxes, arrangement of banners and flags, one could have thought that this was a Grand Prix and not a G2 Open . The intense effort put into preparations was clear and success was imminent, well done.
As to results , Egypt once more secured first place with 4 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze medals, whereas the Ivory Coast got a well -deserved second with 2 Gold , 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Third and fourth place were occupied by Italy and Tunisia.

It was noticeable that nearly all AFTU Executive Council Members attended this important event, as Gen. Ahmed Fouly , AFTU President , had called for an AFTU Exco meeting, which was held in the venue on 18th Feb. 2018.
The meeting was attended by : Gen. Ahmed Fouly, Mr. Ide Issaka , Mr. Alain Badiashile, Mr. Driss el Hilali, Mr. Suleiman Sumba, Dr. Jonathan Nnaji, Mr. Henri Randriamandrato, Mr. Martin Koonce , Mr. Hassan Gesemalla, Mr. Ali Saber and Mrs. Nadia Sobhi. The main points were setting the dates for opening the candidature and its deadline. Special guests attending the event were Mr. Dawit Asfaw , President Ethiopia Taekwondo Federation, who held a very successful meeting with Gen. Fouly . Another special guest was H.E. Ambassador Abdelhamied Gibrieel , President Sudan Taekwondo Federation.
